A Collector quality camera
This is the later model B of the Minolta SR-7 which is an improved version of the original SR-7 and had several improvements. It was manufactured from 1963 to 1965. A historically important camera as it featured new innovations.
The camera body is in wonderful condition and all functions have been tested and are working properly. The view finder is clear and bright. The mirror is undamaged, all shutter speeds are operating properly as is the self timer. The meter is accurate and with the high and low sensitivity switch it reads quite well in low light. The on/off/battery switch is functional. The light seals have been replaced, because cameras from this era had foam seals that broke down over time.
The mint or near mint 58mm f/1.4 lens has great optics: no cleaning marks, fungus, haze, separation, or damage to the coatings. The diaphragm operates properly with no oil on the blades. Focusing is smooth. Minolta was the first to have multi-coating on all their lenses.
This lens can also be used on mirrorless digital cameras with the appropriate adapter. Because the depth of field lever is on the lens is is especially well suited to be used with digital cameras because you can focus and view with the lens wide open and simply press the depth of field preview lever to close down the aperture at the instant of making the exposure.
The leather ever-ready case is in overall very nice condition with the hinged portion on the bottom having been reinforced with gaffer's tape. It served well to keep this camera in its great condition.
Included is: A new nice quality wide neck-strap, original metal lens cap, working battery (needed for the meter only), and a print-out of an owner's manual.
