Description
Tripp Lite's POS500TAA standby UPS system offers surge suppression and long-lasting battery support, ideal for Kiosks, Point-of-Sale, Network Workstations and standalone PC applications. Special housing with rear-facing outlets fits into limited height and width UPS compartments in kiosks and other equipment housings. Internal UPS circuits maintain AC output during power failures and severe brownout conditions so that connected equipment can be properly shut down without data loss. Includes 3 battery-supported outlets for computer, monitor and one vital system peripheral, plus 3 additional surge suppression-only outlets for printers and other system accessories not requiring battery support. USB port enables optional unattended system shutdown without data loss in case of extended power failure; cable included. HID-compliant USB interface enables integration with built-in power management and auto shutdown features of Windows and Mac OS X. Power Alert software available via FREE download from Tripp Lite's website. Built-in single line phone suppression protects modem, fax machine or other peripheral with a standard dialup/DSL phone connection. Built-in audible alarm and 5 LEDs indicate line power status, battery power status, battery low/replace, overload and site wiring fault status. 500VA/300W power handling ability supports point-of-sale equipment, kiosks, network workstations, small business phone systems and desktop PC equipment. Ultra-Compact Reliable 500VA/300W Battery Backup with Rear-Facing Outlets
UPS battery backup support lets you work through short power failures and gives you enough time to save files and perform an orderly system shutdown in case of a prolonged blackout. The POS500TAA’s internal battery provides 15.8 min. of battery support for a half load (150 watts) and 4.9 min. for a full load (300 watts). During normal operation, incoming utility power keeps the UPS battery fully charged so that backup power will always be available if needed.
Not much larger than a common brick, the POS500TAA provides battery backup and surge protection in a unit that is 6.5 x 3.6 x 11.2 inches (H x W x D), making it an ideal for equipment housings or setups where space is extremely limited.
Robust AC and Dataline Surge Protection and EMI/RFI Line Noise Filtering
A sudden power surge or spike can damage or destroy electronic components and wipe out irreplaceable data. The POS500TAA’s 480 joules of built-in surge suppression protect all connected components and the data they contain. Built-in tel/DSL jacks protect modem, fax and phone equipment against dataline surges.
Various electrical and radio sources can cause disruptive interference on the AC line. This line noise is a common cause of incremental hardware damage and data corruption and is particularly problematic in point-of-sale applications. The POS500TAA incorporates technology that filters out electromagnetic and radio frequency interference so that your equipment operates without problems.

The POS500TAA contains a HID-compliant USB port (USB cable included). When used with Tripp Lite’s free PowerAlert software (available for download at www.tripplite.com) this USB port enables safe unattended system shutdown and file saves in the event of a prolonged power failure. The USB port also integrates with the built-in power management and auto shutdown features of Windows and Mac OS X.
The POS500TAA’s front-panel LED array alerts you to potential power problems. The 4 LEDs indicate line power, battery power, overload and battery low/replace status at a glance. A rear LED indicates site wiring fault status for power outlets. An audible alarm sounds during power-failure and low-battery conditions.
