Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb, freshly serviced and complete with a two-button footswitch. An early example of the Deluxe Reverb model, this amp features Pre-CBS visual cues including a "Fender Elect. Inst. Co." faceplate and no-logo grillcloth. Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb is stocked with a fresh EH 6V6 power tube pair, delivering the shimmering clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades.

The amp has a sweet, balanced overarching sound that delivers the top end sparkle and clarity characteristic of the best amps from Fender's Black Panel era. This amp is very dynamic, working as a perfect platform for effects pedals and while the treble response can cut with the best, there's a smoothness to the top end that keeps the amp from ever sounding harsh. Turning up past 4 on the volume dial, the amp begins to push into overdrive territory with light compression and plenty of sizzle. The Reverb is lush, with long decay, and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three-dimensional quality to the effect when you increase the intensity.

The transformers are all manufactured by Schumacher, Fender's primary transformer supplier in the Black Panel era. The output transformer, choke, and reverb transformer are all original, dating between late 1964 and early '65. The power transformer is a vintage replacement, dating to '66. A bevy of original blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp (an essential part of the Black Panel sound). All but one of the original CTS pots are intact, with visible date codes from the 38th week of '64. The power supply has been professionally recapped with high quality Sprague Atom capacitors, and there are modern smaller electrolytics in the preamp as well. There are also a couple small metal plugs on the back of the chassis from previously removed mods. A three-prong power cable has been installed too.

The speaker is a vintage Oxford 12K5-6 ceramic magnet driver with a blue Fender foil label on the magnet, and while correct for this model, the speaker has been recently installed, dating to the 13th week of '66. The original tube chart is intact, retaining the "OD" stamp which translates to April of '65.

The amp retains the original smooth black tolex, and the original baffle has been regrilled with aged silver sparkle grillcloth. The original faceplate retains a full complement of witch hat knobs, some of which are original to the amp along with a few vintage substitutions. The tolex shows some wear on the bottom corners in particular, with a few cleanly repaired tears on the bottom of the enclosure. All of the original hardware including the corners, handle caps, and sphinx glides (feet) are present.

A two-button footswitch is included.
