Up for sale is a production cel from a Huckleberry Hound cartoon, showing Huck and his girlfriend Desert Flower watching the sun set together next to a campfire from the 1988 feature "The Good, the Bad and Huckleberry Hound." The cell has been hand-signed by BIll Hanna and Joe Barbera. I have never examined the cel out of the frame (to be honest, I can't figure out how to take the frame apart without breaking it), but I can see that the cell portion of the image contains Huck and Desert Flower, as well as the flames of the campfire, and the background contains the firewood and the rest of the scenery. I have no idea if the background was used in production or if it was created for presentation purposes, but it makes for a lovely display and, as these signed Hanna-Barbera cel set ups go, it is one of the best compositions I've ever seen. There are several other cels from this production on eBay at present, one of which is signed, but this is the only one that really works as a standalone piece, i.e., Huck and Desert Flower enjoying a romantic sunset, whereas the typical examples from this production are mid-scene moments with no context. As to condition, I can see no defects or damage to the visible portions of the cel and background. I received this as a gift over thirty years ago, so I have no paperwork associated with it, but as a longtime collector I can tell just at a glance that this is definitely an original signed Hanna-Barbera production cel. The frame measures approximately 11 1/4" by 14 1/4" and the matte opening measures approximately 7 1/2" by 9 1/2". As with all my items, I unconditionally guarantee its authenticity in perpetuity, so buy with confidence.
