Handmade Lampwork beads are made one at a time by heating a cane or rod of glass over a flame torch and then applying the molten glass around a mandrel. The bead is held over the flame while it is worked on and cooled slowly to strengthen the glass. It takes a lot of skill to keep the bead from losing its shape and the adding of other colors in swirls or flowers demands much concentration.

This glass bead can be used as a pendant or a focal in a jewelry design.  It measures 31mm in length and 25mm across the top.  There is a small hole for stringing approximately 7mm from the top (wide part).  Bead is crafted overall with freeform design of Cobalt Blue Glass, Clear Gold glass, and what looks like Rust- Colored foil.

The accompanying rondelles are a very deep blue and measure from 8mm to 10mm.

Price is for the set of three beads.                                               Beads by Laura Maddams
