Judge Ray Harrison was a Des Moines, Iowa municipal judge at mid-century who recovered from alcoholism with the assistance of Alcoholics Anonymous. He published (anonymously) a biography of his journey, Clancy Got Well, in 1951 through a small local bookstore publisher. Through the rest of his life, both as a judge and as a private citizen, Harrison dedicated himself to spreading the word about AA and how it had helped him overcome his struggle with alcohol.

This is a copy of that Iowa run of Clancy Got Well, in remarkably good condition. It was found in Iowa and appears to be "new old stock" -- that is, it is almost entirely untouched by age and does not appear to have even been opened. The red boards have an interesting, rough texture that was presumably peculiar to the publisher (the McGrevey Book Store, late of Des Moines, IA).

Interesting piece of Iowa history and AA history, in amazing condition at a very good price.
