Antique French Red and White Toile 1820 Early 19th C Quilted Panel

Description:

Lovely!!! Hand quilted, early French toile panel from a bed pelmet ensemble. The vibrant reds in this Red and off white toned French Toile are stunning in person!

The beautiful reds within this panel have stood the test of time. I am guessing it was probably stored out of direct sunlight to remain this vivid over all these years. All hand stitched with a fine linen muslin backing. It's beyond gorgeous in person. Originating from France, early 19th C, dating 1820 or possibly a bit earlier.

This antique French Toile depicts a wedding scene in the countryside.  Look closely, the details are exquisite!

Hand quilted, hand stitched narrow turned piping on the left and right edges with raw top and bottom edge.

Material: 100% Cotton Toile. Backing feels more like linen.

Measurements:

39.5 inches length

20.25 inches width

Condition: The material is in very good, overall condition. Colors remain vivid red in most areas, some are gently faded, a bit paler in some areas but not much. There are some very tiny specks within each scene, a few storage marks on the left side, a storage mark on the side of the church, a little spot on the right edge ~ all shown in the photos. The backing muslin has some spotting, storage marks, soiled areas, aging/discoloration.

In beautiful, clean condition, ready for display or perhaps a special sewing project.
