A gorgeously bound and illustrated edition of Milton's works, including Paradise Lost, Paradise Regained, minor poems, and Samson Agonistes. . George Ayres Leavitt (May 13, 1822 – December 18, 1888) was the son of a Massachusetts bookbinder who founded several of New York's earliest publishing firms. This book would have been published between 1860 and 1863 based on the brief history of the eponymous publishing house. There is an inscription on the inner page past the binding dated May 3,1871 This book is in relatively good condition and doesn't appear to have been handled much. Please see photos for condition.
