Introducing the Ledebouria Socialis, also known as Silver Squill, Wood Hyacinth or Leopard Lily. This rare and unusual plant is a bulbous, clumping perennial that comes potted in a 6cm pot. It has lanceolate foliage in shades of silver and green, and grows up to 12-15cm in height and length. Whether you're a seasoned indoor gardener or just starting out, this geophytic succulent is perfect for adding a touch of nature to your home.

With their silvery leaves adorned with green spots these lovely little plants originate from Southern Africa where they have adapted to grow in the arid conditions the dry African savannahs.  As a consequence, whilst not strictly speaking a succulent, they do share many of the  characteristics of plants adapted for drought. This includes its unique purple toned teardrop shaped bulbs which form above the ground which have the capacity to store moisture.

A geophytic species of bublous perrenial plant the Ledebouria Socialis is a close relative of the hyacinth but it the house it retains its leaves throughout the year.  Its lance shaped leaves, resplendent with their silver spots & purple underside, appear in sequence about the bulb.  As it grows new bulbs will develop around the sides of the original one, usually at a angle, as it continues to swell.  If happy it will produce small green flowers on pink stems in spring.

This is a well established plant with small bulbs already in development. It is supplied in a 6cm pot along with a its own comprehensive care guide.
