Good News! One Guy found a solution on how to replace your old damaged and cracked  2017-2019 screens.

Here's his post on FB about Giulia, but it should work for Stelvio as well:

"Dear Alfisti,
Last week, I bought a used MY20 display to replace the one on our 2018 Giulia. The seller assured me that the display would work with just a plug-and-play setup, but, of course, it didn't.
Luckily, I managed to make it work.
I opened both the old and the new screens and noticed a few things:
The problematic plastic cover over the LCD on my old screen is "Made in France," but on the newer display, the same plastic cover is "Made in Germany."
The motherboards on these screens are totally different. On the old screen, the motherboard has just one flat cable connector (for the LCD), while on the newer screen, the motherboard has two flat cable connectors (one for the LCD and an additional one for the TOUCHSCREEN).
The LCD is the same with the white part number: LA088DV1 on both screens.
On the old screen, between the LCD and the problematic LCD plastic cover, there is nothing, but on the newer one, there is a touch layer.
Because the LCD screen is the same, I transferred the motherboard from the old screen to the newer one and connected only the flat cable for the LCD. The other one (for the touchscreen) I left unplugged under the motherboard.
When I plugged the new display with the old motherboard into our 2018 Giulia, the display instantly started to work!
In conclusion, I replaced the 8.8 screen from 2020 (with the better plastic cover) without any damage to it, instead of buying a new screen. It is almost impossible to find a good used 8.8 non-touch display for Giulia because almost all of them have already developed cracks. So, I believe that this is a good solution: to buy a newer screen (MY20 or newer) and transfer your motherboard.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
You cannot transfer motherboard from 6.5 inch to 8.8 touchscreen because, 6.5 screen has two smaller flat cables just for LCD."
