DESCRIPTION
The first collected editions of the works of Romantic era poet Lord Byron. Present here is the first five volume collected edition of the poet's works, as published between 1815 and 1817 by Byron's friend, the publisher John Murray.
This edition later expanded to six volumes in 1818, before finally reaching eight volumes by 1820.
Volume I contains cantos I and II of 'Childe Harold's Pilgrimage'.
Volume II contains 'The Giaour', cantos I and II of 'The Bride of Abydos'.
Volume III contains cantos I, II and III of 'The Corsair', cantos I and II of 'Lara'.
Volume IV contains a selection of thirty-six poems, and twenty-four Hebrew melodies.
Volume V contains 'Siege of Corinth', 'Parisina', and a selection of twelve poems.
With the contemporary inscription of 'Fanny Hangway' to the recto of a front endpaper of each volume.
A delightfully bound set of the first collected edition of the works of one of the most famous poets in the English language, also one of the most famous figures in British history, notorious for his controversial life.
