Scarce edition.

Following the corruption and downfall of the monk Ambrosio, this work is a prime example of the male Gothic. Often imitated and adapted for the stage and screen, the convoluted and scandalous plot has made this one of the most important Gothic horror novel of its time.

Written by Matthew Gregory Lewis, an English novelist and dramatist who specialized in Gothic Horror. He was also known for his work as a diplomat, politician and estate owner in Jamaica.
