The first edition of Maxime Collignon's lavishly illustrated work on Greek sculpture.

Volume I discusses 'Origins', 'The Primitives', 'Advanced Archaism', and the great masters of the fifth century, while volume II examines the influence of the great masters of the fifth century, fourth century, art in the Hellenistic period, and Greek art after the Roman conquest.

Illustrated with twelve plates to each volume, including a number of chromolithographs. With further vignette illustrations throughout. Collated, complete.

With blind library stamps to title page tails, and withdrawal stamps to front free endpapers.


CONDITION

In full vellum bindings, with gilt detailing to spines. Externally, lovely. Faint adhesive residue to spine tails, with minor split in vellum to tail of front joint of volume II. Stamps to front free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Blind stamps to title page tails. Pages generally clean and bright.
