An account of the expedition of the H.M.S. Dido to Borneo in the 1840s.

This work recounts the 1843-44 campaign against Borneo pirates.

It was during this expedition that the author met and became friends with James Brooke, who had been made rajah of Sarawak.

Volume I discusses Brooke's time in Sarawak from 1838 to 1842, before he met Keppel. Volume II looks at the exploits of the two men together with Sir Edward Belcher.

Written by Henry Keppel, a prominent Victorian Royal Navy officer. He was the commanding officer of the corvette of HMS Dido.

With extracts from the journal of James Brooke.

Bookplate of Richard Benyon Croft to the front paste downs, his ink inscription to the verso of the front endpapers. Croft was High Sheriff of Hertfordshire in 1892, and Justice of the Peace for Hertfordshire.
