26" Lightweight Cast Iron combination Straight Edge/Prism/Precision Level/Parallel.  No one else offers this robust and versatile design. These castings weigh about 26.5 pounds as cast and can be machined to about 23 pounds depending on the user's preference.   As cast, the faces are nearly flat and usually will clean up with less than 1/8" milled off.

This tool was designed to accommodate a 20-arc second precise machinist level vial and mount mechanism made in the US by Geier and Bluhm.  Their part number is 4-3064-20. (Mounting the vial naturally requires some machining of the casting.)

The upper face is about 2.5" wide and the lower face is about 3.25" wide.  The top rail is about 2.75 inches above the lower face.  There is a finger recess provided to avoid scraping into a blind corner---this makes for easy scraping of the top face.  The angle between faces is about 45 degrees.

Dimensions: Approximately 27L X 3.25W X 2.8H
Details of how I machine this tool are posted on PracticalMachinist website where a search on "machining a straight edge and dgfoster" will bring up the relevant thread.  I do offer machining services on this tool and, when I have them in stock, will list them on eBay as well.

This 26" straight edge has  a proven popular with machinists interested in leveling and reconditioning machine tool ways. (I have been selling these essentially by word of mouth til now to amateur and professional scrapers) I cast each one of these myself in my own small foundry from premium quality tested melting stock.  Each one is tested for uniform softness and is free of voids or inclusions.---guaranteed.
