For sale is the hardcover book, "Medieval Combat:  A Fifteenth Century Illustrated Manual of Swordfighting and Close-Quarter Combat," (1987), by Hans Talhoffer.  This manual depicting swordfighting was first written in 1467 by Hans Talhoffer, and was a guide to swordfighting techniques used in the Middle Ages.  The book for sale is the first English Edition, consisting of 317 pages, of Talhoffer's classic book from the 15th century.

The book is replete with pictures depicting various swordfighting and other combat positions in a total of 270 plates.  At the back of the book, there is an appendix that shares the original Swabian plate descriptions.  Swordfighting in the Middle Ages involved more than just hacking people with swords-it involved footwork, avoidance, the ability to judge and manipulate timing and distance, along with grappling skills, wrestling and kicking.  A fascinating record of how combatants fought in the Middle Ages.
