AMERICAN MILITIA ARTILLERY BUTTON 1814-1821: EAGLE ON CANNON

CATALOGUED IN ALBERT "RECORD OF AMERICAN UNIFORM AND HISTORICAL BUTTONS"  AS "AY 60A"

This is a very fine example showing the American eagle astride the cannon on its carriage, adjacent to an American flag,
just above six cannon balls, with the word "ARTILLERY" at the top, and "Regt" beneath.

Every detail is well preserved and visible. A beautiful button.

On the reverse, the makers mark is rather special. It reads: "Imperial Stand." with three stars
separating the words from a nicely defined eagle holding an olive branch and arrows. The shank is in tact.

Measures: 21 mm's in diameter.
