SIZE MEASUREMENTS - The 6 inch shoulder strap meets the embroidered bodice at the shoulder extending to the bottom hem 46 inches. The Sleeveless off the shoulder strap  is black. The dark green bodice cut on a diagonal is embroidered with black velvet leaves edged with tiny rhinestones. The diagonal embroidered bodice expands from 10 inches at its minimum (just above the hip) to a maximum 21 inches to emphasize the hips  The dramatic black solid sheath dress is split high on the hip 36 inches from the bottom hem which permits the legs to be seen elegantly and advantageously. An attached black satin peony ornaments the hip at the bodice's briefest point at the waist which measures 15 inches across. The dress is fully lined in black satin with center zipper in the back. The back shoulders have 21 inch vertical exposure. This glamorous evening gown is intensely sensual and romantic and probably was designed to be worn while bare underneath.

This hand made piece was a gift by Robert David Morton which he gave to his professional astrologer on the Philadelphia Main Line from an old Social Register family. She was a look alike of Katherine Hepburn. She died last year a age 95. As a friend of both her and Robert, I was asked to take the dress from storage and find it a new home. Robert told me once that his best dresses were the "F--k me dresses." He loved to make women beautiful. The dress does not contain a label but I knew Robert for many years until he died. Robert had a beautiful estate in Bucks County while I was a neighbor and close friend of the woman who died last year in Berwyn, PA, where she lived in the same house since 1960.
