Up for sale, a 1976 Gibson SG Standard in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, compete with the original hardshell case. Finished in Walnut nitro lacquer gloss, this SG features traditional solid mahogany construction with a bound rosewood fingerboard, loaded with the original pair of "Tarback" humbuckers. This particular instrument comes from the personal collection of Slipknot’s Jim Root, aka #4.

The Tarbacks have a different magnet structure and fewer winds than the T Tops produced in the same era. Coupled with the black epoxy that gives these humbuckers their name and ensures great feedback rejection by suppressing microphonics, the Tarbacks are a lively, sparkling pickup pair, perfect for pairing with the SG's mahogany construction. The bridge pickup has a surprising twang and clarity, yet with a smooth top end, while the middle and neck positions have plenty of warmth and girthy bass response. This SG is featherweight at 6lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss Walnut nitro lacquer finish is limited to a handful of minor dings on the lower bout on top and along the perimeter, very faint scratches on the back, and a couple additional light marks in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is nigh flawless.
