A very interesting piece of Melbourne Retail and Industrial history.
Interestingly, there isn't much information on Country Lighting Service. But they appear to have a brief, and underhanded existence.
"Gloria Court Case 1934 Transcript begins:
Gloria Light Successful Supreme Court Enters Judgment in Favor of Gloria Light Company of Aust. The Gloria Light Company of Aust. draws the attention of all present and prospective users of Gloria flighting and Heating equipment to the following facts:— During the past eighteen months many complaints have been received by the Company re faulty and inefficient lighting and heating equipment, which had been sold throughout Australia as “Gloria Parts" or "Parts for Gloria Lights” &c. These sales were made by several persons and firms, and for the protection of its customers, the Gloria Light Company of Aust. spent a considerable sum of money during this period to enable successful legal action to be launched. The first of these proceedings was taken against a former employee of the Gloria Light Company of Aust. who was trading under the name of the Country Lighting Service.
Under the terms of settlement, the Country Lighting Service agreed to totally disband its organisation, and cease business as from the 1st October last and to hand over the Good-will of its “Gloria” business to the Gloria Light Company. "
