Purple Emperor Butterfly, Antique Entomology Tipped-In Print - Robert 1938

Original antique entomology tipped-in plate, originating from a French natural history publication.
Les papillons dans la nature, Editions Delachaux & Niestle S.A 1934.

These were printed with the "tipped-in" method. This technique involves lightly applying adhesive to a small area (usually the edges) of the print and then carefully attaching it to a designated page in the book. Tipped-in plates are commonly used for illustrations, photographs, or artwork that are printed separately from the main text pages, often on different paper. This method allows for the inclusion of high-quality or color illustrations in a book, enhancing its aesthetic and informational value.

Dimensions: Approx. 19 x 21.5 cm (7.67 x 8.46 inches)

Condition: Paper toning in accordance with the print's age. Marks/stains as per scan. Wear around the edges and minor losses to paper might be present in some prints. All the prints from the series originated from an ex-library disassembled volume. Please refer to each prints scan to get a  better understanding of the condition.
