STAR TREK OFFICIAL STARSHIPS COLLECTION #100 'U.S.S HORIZON' DAEDALUS CLASS - NEW (Stored) still in PLASTIC in OFFICIAL DISPLAY COLOUR BOX with DISPLAY STAND - Approx 13cm Length
- The Daedalus-Class was an early class of STARFLEET Vessel that, unlike most Federation Starship designs, was designed with a Spherical primary hull, outwardly similar to the later Olympic-class. This class, which operated with a crew of approximately 229, had a unique subspace distress call among Starship Classes. A model of the USS Horizon was displayed in Deep Space 9’s classroom and later in Captain Benjamin Sisko’s ready room. The USS Horizon appeared in several episodes of Deep Space 9, including “The Nagus,” “Progress,” and others
- The Daedalus Class starships were the first class of starships that were adopted by the newly formed United Federation of Planets in 2161. Designed in 2156, the Daedalus Class was initially built as an exploration starship, building upon advances made a few years earlier in the "NX Class" program. This new class of vessels were among the first to show the primary/secondary-warp drive section. Originally designed around the warp-5 (old scale) drive system employed in the NX Class ships, the drive section of the first Daedalus prototype was redesigned to accommodate dilithium-matrix power converters. This enhancement would make the Daedalus Class the first warp-6 star ship of Earth design.
The Collector's Model has been carefully crafted from Cast Metal and High-Quality ABS parts, and then Hand-Painted in great detail.
