As stated this lamp was purchased in Paris France and because of that it has a European style plug it's also rated for 230 V you can use it in America but you would have to use a step down transforme...r they're very inexpensive , but I figure that most people that buy this are just gonna put it on their shelf ...so recapping do not buy this and say Hey I couldn't plug this in my wall I want to return it because I will not be taking it back because you didn't read the description
