Antique Pair Japanese Moriage Satsuma Warrior Two-Handled Vases Hand Painted 12".
A pair of fantastic antique Japanese Moriage Satsuma double-handled vase with a warrior motif on one side and floral on the other. This pair is in very good condition for age and the moriage and paint are heavy and in excellent condition.
At first glance they appear to be a matching set. However, while these vases are the same in their theme and design, they are not identifical. One is slightly smaller and has a soft serpentine opening with a distinct cream colored glaze. Othe other has a smooth rounded opening and a celedon /gray coloring.
Both are solid pieces with no cracks or chips. Each piece does have crazing and wear associated with age.
Pair thought to be made during the late 19th - early 20th century.
Measurements are approximately:
Smaller Vase: 12" H x 5.25 at widest.
Larger Vase: 12.5" H x 5.5" at widest.
