Rare vintage 1970 1st U.S pressing of The Doors 'Morrison Hotel' Lp (EKS- 75007) in sealed condition.

I've been collecting The Doors on vinyl for many decades and there are several factors which enable me to state with 100% certainty that this is an early 1st U.S. pressing.

Firstly, the most obvious clue is that there is no barcode at the back (so definitely manufactured BEFORE 1980). Secondly, the gatefold jacket is textured in a slightly rough or crude way. Thirdly, the shrink wrap has "aged" or yellowed in such a manner that can not be faked. Even Lps that were shrink-wrapped from the late 70s have a different look and feel. Fourthly, the overall color of the front and back photograph are consistent with early U.S. examples of this album. Fifth, some reissues from the 70s had an inexplicable thin, black diagonal line at the upper right front corner measuring roughly 4" long. Only reissue printed covers had this printing anomaly.  Lastly, and MOST importantly: The weight.  This album weighs 379g.  Later pressings from 1971, 1976, and 1979, were 30g to 50g lighter. This is not only due to the less robust cardboard used for the construction of the gatefold jacket, but also for the thinner and lighter vinyl which lay inside.  To prove my point, I took my already opened 1st U.S pressing and weighed the gatefold jacket separately....it came to aprox. 175g.  Making allowances for the shrink wrap and inner-sleeve, one has to assume the record inside must weigh at least 150g to 170g....heavyweight vinyl and highly likely to be not only a first pressing...but a first run/first pressing. I assure you, this is the real deal. Have confidence and trust in my 45+ years of dealing in Doors Lps and memorabilia.

Condition: Sealed....minor bumps and wear to a couple of the corners. A small, inoffensive dent/gash to part of the lower spine (see photo) and there are a couple of small areas where the shrink wrap has opened slightly.  Be wary of sellers selling sealed 50 ~ 60 year old Lps that have no yellowing and have no breaks in the shrink wrap whatsoever. It is highly irregular because shrink wrap "shrinks" and opens up after all that time ...even it is stored in a box for many years.
