DETAILS:

Case:            ‘Minute Man’ model. Delightful, tonneau shaped case with distinctive elegant curvaceous ridged sweeping lugs. Original & signed ‘Bulova’. The 10kt gold plated bezel and stainless steel case back have been cleaned & repolished and fitted with a new acrylic crystal. In general the case looks great with only modest wear/scratches present commensurate with the age of the watch.

 

Crown:         Original, signed ‘Bulova’, showing some wear.

 

Dial:             Very eye-catching & immaculate. The original dial has been professionally refinished to a high standard in a dark grey/charcoal colour, accentuating and complementing the rich lustre of the 10kt gold plated case. The even number hour positions are marked with ‘Arabic’ style numerals whilst the odd positions are square shaped markers. All are gilt and slightly raised on the dial. The ‘Bulova’ name, minute chapter and sub-second dial at the six o’clock position are in gold tone.

 

Hands:         Hour, minute & second hands, gilt, ‘Alpha’ style, original, looking great.

 

Movement:  BULOVA high quality Swiss manual wind movement. This is a fine classic 11AC calibre with 17 jewels marked ‘L7’ for 1957. The movement has been cleaned, oiled & adjusted, and is running well, keeping good time ready to wear. As with all vintage watches regular servicing is recommended.

 

Size:            Tonneau shaped approx. 38.39mm including lugs X 27.39mm excluding the crown. Approx. 28.60mm excluding the lugs.

 

Band:           A new 16mm black leather band and gold tone buckle has been fitted complementing the watch perfectly.

General comments:

This is a delightful example of a Bulova ‘Minute Man’ watch from 1957, which has been restored to appeal once again – and, as I’m sure you will agree, it certainly does. The 10kt gold plated case and refinished dial make the watch highly desirable and unmistakable.

• This is a vintage manual wind watch with a movement from 1957 and as such it will not have the accuracy of a contemporary quartz movement therefore perfect time accuracy cannot be expected. If you want a watch to simply put on and go – then perhaps this is not the best choice you could make – however, if you want a period timepiece that you can admire and enjoy on each occasion you wear it, then this is a great item.
