Antique Stanley Bailey No 8 Jointer Bench Plane 24" Pat'D Mar-25-02; Aug-19-02

This is an antique Stanley Bailey No. 8 (possibly Type 9 or 10?) jointer bench plane, made in the United States circa 1902-07.  There are two patent dates behind the handplane frog: Mar-25-02; Aug-19-02.  The plane appears to be complete and useable, though, there are some obvious repairs / welds to the sides of the cast iron body. Despite these repairs, there does not appear to be any cracks on the sole of the plane.  The sole is smooth with some minor scratches and a 1/4" chip on one corner of the mouth of the plane as shown in the photos.  The plane appears complete and is fitted with an antique Auburn Iron / Blade.

The plane measures approximately 24" L x 3-1/8" W and weighs approximately 9 pounds. The antique Auburn cutter (Thistle Brand, Auburn, NY) measures approximately 7-5/16" x 2-1/2". The cutter has some rust and wear, but still has an edge and should be sharpened for optimal use.  Please review all photos carefully and feel free to ask any questions.  This plane is auctioned here in used, AS-IS condition.
