This cut of briolette stone can be fragile at the tip.  The stringing hole is placed very close to the tip so care must be taken to not break off this sharp tip.  A close-up of the photos shows the placement of this hole.

These large Peruvian Opal Beads are glossy and opaque.  Cuts of these briolettes vary from .5mm to occasionally 1mm in either width or length.

As can be seen in the photos above, the color varies from very pale grey/blue at the two ends to an intense turquoise in the center.  The lighter colored beads have some transparency.  Most beads show some splash of black or brown matrix.  Colors in the photos above are fairly accurate.
