The STH books assembled by Boyd McDonald are not pornography, but they are pornographic. They are anthologies of gay life in the time before AIDS and the more general acceptance of gays that we have today, at least in the USA. The purpose of the books is to chronicle gay sex experiences in a kind of fun way. The books ring out the virtues of sex between men in a way that isn't cartoonish or superficial. You'll either like the books or not. I find them fascinating and hot. They offer a valuable insight into a world that few know. Boyd McDonald corresponded with a lot of men around the country for many years, from the 60s to the late 80s.
