A very smart antique late 18th or early 19th century Georgian Etui or Necessaire. The piece of octagonal elongated form with cut steel opening mechanism and decorative hinges, the body with embossed and gilt decoration, lined inside with red silk and velvet. Internal compartments for a ladies ‘essential’ items, some contents present including scissors, sewing tools, and a hard stone tipped probably silver propelling pencil.

Maximum height including handle 12.8cm. Maximum width 6cm.

The leather outer in overall good condition with some minor wear as expected with age. Some tarnish and wear to the steel metal fittings but this does not detract. The box does not seem to be clipping shut securely, however stays shut when stationary. The lining with some age related wear and discolouration as expected with age. Some contents not present. The included contents of overall good condition, some tarnish to the metal components. A charming and rare surviving piece.
