This guitar deserves to be played but has spent most of the last 20 years in its case. I studied to Grade 5 and concluded that I don't have enough talent for jazz, and my children are not interested.
The Vice President was introduced in 1998, and was made until 2003.
An opportunity to acquire a hand-built archtop at a reasonable price. Only blemish is a small area of the side of the neck (see photo) which appears to have been polished through the colour coat during factory finishing (it's not a scratch and was present when I bought the guitar in 2003). Features include:
- Hand built in Bubenreuth, Germany by Thomas Stühlein, Luthier (joined Höfner 1999).
- Signed certificate.
- Full-depth, fully acoustic.
- Solid hand-carved spruce top.
- Flamed Anigree (African Maple) back & sides.
- Mother-of-pearl inlaid headstock.
- Nickel-plated fittings.
- Original twin Schaller mini-humbucking pickups with traditional Hofner diamond logo.
- Floating neck pickup.
- Original Schaller machine heads.
- Nickel "Lyre-Style" tailpiece.
- Double and triple position mother-of-pearl/abalone dots on a rosewood fingerboard.
- Traditional Hofner-style slotted fret-wire saddle bridge.
- Original (and extremely high quality) leather and tweed hard shell case, complete with hygrometer, desiccant reservoir and keys.
- Fitted with LaBella nylon tape wound strings, with the spare E and A strings in the envelope.
I went for a clean look: removed the black pickguard and replaced the gold control knobs with thinner solid ebony ones (but the original pickguard, knobs, bracket and 2 fixing screws are included if you prefer the factory set-up).
Collection is preferred but will arrange free delivery.
I cannot deliver outside of the UK.
