This clock was made by the New Haven Clock Co. (owned by Chauncey Jerome) likely just after the Civil War, around 1870. It still has the original 30 hour time and strike movement that has been cleaned and is running and striking properly.
The original painted dial is still in pretty good condition for its age as can be seen in the photos.
The reverse painted bottom glass is in pretty nice shape as well, with less paint loss than you usually see. Most old reverse painted glasses are either in terrible condition or have been replaced by now.
The original label on the back is very nice.
PLEASE NOTE: The rosewood veneer on this case is missing/worn off in a lot of areas. It gives the clock a nice rustic appearance, but we want you to be aware that it does have quite a bit of veneer loss. It measures 21" high x 11" wide.
It comes complete with a key and pendulum, and is ready to place up on your mantle and enjoy.
Even if you don't wish to run it all the time, these old civil war clocks make great decorator items and interesting conversation pieces.
