The Breakthrough Photography X2 is the gold standard UV for the discerning professional photographer. Featuring high quality AGC glass from Japan, MRC8 and our water and dust repelling nano coating layers, the X2 is incredibly durable and resolves critically sharp.

X2 features some of the highest resolving optical glass in the world - AGC glass made in Japan. State-of-the-art 8-Layer Multi-Resistant Coating process hardens both optical surfaces, increases light transmission, reduces reflections and achieves true color neutrality while maximizing contrast fidelity.

Four layers of state-of-the-art MRC are applied to each side of the optical disk, resulting in a total of 8 MRC layers. MRC coatings are structurally harder than the glass itself, which increases durability of the optical surfaces by increasing scratch resistance.

Lenses and filters without MRC coatings are highly susceptible to optical phenomenon such as flares, ghosting, low-contrast and a reduction of sharpness. This has the unfortunate effect of lowering the optical performance of the lens to the optical performance of the uncoated filter.

Each X2 filter is CNC machined with very narrow and precise tolerances to ensure each and every X2 is of the highest craftsmanship. With an 8-Layer Multi-Resistant coating, the X2 performs impressively against flaring and ghosting.

Durability down to the nanometer. Breakthrough nanotec Nano Coating layer repels dirt, water and other elements by beading rather than absorbing, making it easier (and faster) than ever to clean.

Laser engraved lettering in the X2's traction frame ensure that the lettering won't ever fade or come off even after consistent use. Weather-sealed durability.
If you want to ensure that your lens maintains out-of-box optical performance for as long as possible, Canon, Nikon and Sony recommend protective filters for the purpose of completing a lens weather-seal. Without a filter, the lens is not dust or water resistant, as Canon states on page 2 of their lens user manuals.
