This is the 1979 Hostess baseball card for Steve Garvey, all-star firstbaseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Hostess cards were on the box and had to be manually cut out. I cut this card from the box back in 1979. As you can see in the photo, the cut is not perfectly straight, but what would you expect from an 8th grader back then anyway?
Steve is currently in the news as he is running for Senate for the state of California. Whether you like or dislike his politics, this is an interesting card to add to your collection. Maybe you can get him to sign it at a campaign event?
