• Tester MED - Thanks to this tester you can check the minimum radiation dose.
TESTER MED helps to determine the best irradiation time for you.
Irradiation should be continued for 30 seconds by placing a tester directly on the skin (on the arm or leg). The next day the skin surface color changes. If you have 2 spots on your skin in one place of the largest holes on a tester (after 30 seconds of irradiation). This means that the irradiation should be shorter than 30 seconds. If you have 5 spots on your skin after 30 seconds of exposure, then you should shorten the exposure time to, for example, 20 seconds. If you do not have any spots on your skin, you should extend the exposure time to, for example, 1 minute. Since everyone has different skin and hair color, the irradiation effect may be different, so it is better to start irradiation between 15 and 20 seconds. When the skin gets used to the radiation, you can extend the radiation time under doctor's color. • Psoriasis

Philips UVB 311nm lamps are also commonly used to produce vitamin D in your body!
Phototherapy (or light therapy) is available to people who experience worsening of psoriasis with normal exposure to the sun. This is because UV radiation is selected during dermatological exposures. UVB exposure is significantly safer than UVA. Therefore, it can be used successfully by pregnant women, children or people with severe liver disease or cataracts. Phototherapy for psoriasis involves regularly exposing the affected area to ultraviolet radiation. UVB radiation is mainly absorbed by the skin, so the symptoms of psoriasis can be eliminated. Phototherapy can be used on larger areas of the body as well as on specific areas of the skin. (eg: hand, head and face). The treatment is generally well tolerated and safe for patients. 85% of patients with psoriasis respond to UVB and they represent the largest group undergoing phototherapy. UVB therapy should be consulted with a dermatologist.
Philips UVB lamps with 311 nm are ideal for vitamin D production. Vitamin D is essential for strong bones because it helps the body utilize calcium from the diet. Traditionally, vitamin D deficiency is associated with rickets, a disease in which bone tissue does not mineralize properly, resulting in soft bones and skeletal deformities. However, research is increasingly showing the importance of vitamin D in protecting against a variety of health problems.
Symptoms of bone pain and muscle weakness may indicate a vitamin D deficiency. However, for many people, the symptoms are subtle. But even without symptoms, too little vitamin D can pose health risks. Low blood levels of the vitamin have been linked to:
- Increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease
- Cognitive impairment in older adults
- Severe asthma in children
- Cancer
