Rare original antique engraving print from an 1850s illustrated journal. It depicts a very early look at the Japanese Chin dog. This pair was brought back from the Collinson Expedition to the Arctic in 1855 on the ship Enterprise. They were a gift from the emperor of Japan (Emperor Komei Komei).

The print measures approximately 10 x 10.5 inches (25 x 26 cm). The Chin picture is small and measures about 4 x 3 inches with a caption below it. SHown also a sled dogs from Port Barrow, and the ship Enterprise.
