A pair of fruit box stencils used to brand the ends of wooden fruit boxes. These two stencils are particularly interesting as they are connected to Australian/Chinese entrepenur Chen Wing Young.
Chen Wing Young established a business, Wing Young & Co, with his three brother in Franklin Street, Melbourne.
In a remarkable story of entrepreneurship and charisma, he went on to establish one of the largest wholesale fruit businesses in Victoria, in partnership with his brothers. He also commercialised the Aussie version of the dim sim - transforming the goldfield’s favourite into a popular commercial product.
