This style of umbrella is designed so that the light is pointed away from your subject, and then the light is reflected towards your subject producing a broad soft light source, with a diffused quality. The umbrella features a matte-white coloured surface to minimise specular highlights. The black outer surface prevents light from leaking through the umbrella’s surface, and absorbs any unwanted light from being reflected onto your subject.

The Black/White Studio Large Parabolic Umbrella with Diffuser features a lightweight 16-ribbed fibreglass frame with an 8mm metal shaft, which makes it suitable for use with most brands of lights. Its fibreglass frame makes the umbrella more durable, and less susceptible to being bent out of shape like traditional metal-framed umbrellas sometimes can. The umbrella’s surface is made from high-quality nylon for durability.
