Alternator Faults and Solutions:
1) The voltage is low or high.
Solution: partial refund to replace the regulator.
2) There is noise. There is a problem with the bearing, it may be broken, and it is very troublesome to replace.
Processing method: full refund or resend.
3) The indicator lights are on but not working.
Solution: Find an iron nail close to the pulley, and it can be used normally if you can feel the magnetic field; if you can’t feel the magnetic field, you need to check the battery line. If there is no problem with the line, choose to resend or refund.
4) Alternator smoke and sparks.
1. Check whether there is any metal foreign matter in the generator entering the rectifier bridge at the rear of the generator to form a short circuit.
2. Whether the generator has leaked antifreeze, oil, etc., causing the insulation of the generator to drop. (except new generators)
3. Check whether the external wiring of the D+ terminal of the generator is loose.
4. If the generator has a P (W) terminal, check whether the external wiring of the P (W) terminal is grounded. If there is no problem with the above, refund or resend.
5) After installing the alternator, the car vibrates and keeps turning off.
1. Confirm whether the generator matches the model.
2. Check whether the generator power matches.
3. Whether the tension of the generator belt is too large, causing interference between the generator rotor and the stator. (Generally accompanied by abnormal noise of the generator)
6) The alternator spins too fast, then the alternator is very hot.
1. Confirm the diameter of the generator pulley, it may be that the pulley does not match, and the pulley needs to be replaced after checking.
2. When the generator is working under heavy load, the temperature is indeed high. If the battery is running low or the air conditioner is on, the surface temperature of the generator may reach 150°C or even 180°C. (Diesel engine has a larger space and lower water temperature, so the temperature will be lower)
7) The battery is drained and the generator does not work.
1. Whether the signal of the generator control terminal is normal and whether it is controlled by the ignition switch.
2. If the generator does not work, the battery will be consumed. Refund the full amount or restart the generator.
8) The alternator burned out after 2 days of normal operation.
1. Whether the generator power matches the model.
2. Whether there is a high-power load on the car.
3. Whether the connection between the vehicle battery and the generator is reliable. (The connection between the engine and the body, the body and the negative pole of the battery that is easily overlooked)
9) The alternator only works at high speed.
1. When the alternator is running at idling speed, the alternator only ensures that the battery does not discharge when the vehicle’s long-term working electrical appliances are fully turned on. At this time, the voltage of the alternator is higher than the battery voltage due to low speed and heavy load.
2. Whether the power of the generator is too small and whether the diameter of the pulley is consistent with the original model.
3. Whether the belt tension is normal.
) The alternator does not work, the instrument panel displays a code error, and the transmission displays waveforms.
1. The communication failure of the generator control circuit, check whether the generator matches the model.
2. Whether the connection of generator control circuit is correct and reliable.
10) The alternator is broken and the belt is broken.
1. It may be that the pulley does not rotate due to the break, and the belt is broken due to the jam. Refund or resend.
11) Short circuit
1. For the metal rear cover, check whether the rear cover has bumps or dents.
2. Excessive current leads to overloading of the wire, thus damaging the circuit.
12) Burn out the fuse
1. Check whether the fuse is firmly fixed. (fuse blown at one end)
2. Is the capacity of the fuse correct?
3. Whether the generator output voltage is too high.
4. A short circuit will burn out the fuse.
13) How to deal with short circuit of stator winding
1. If there is a P (W) terminal, check whether the external connection is short-circuited (one phase of the stator winding is burned).
2. Stator insulation is broken down under operating voltage or excessive voltage due to aging, damp or partial defects of stator insulation.
