About Artist :

Chang Yu (October 14, 1900~August 12, 1966), whose real name is Chang Youshu, was born on October 14, 1900 in Shunqing, Sichuan (now Nanchong City). He passed away in Paris in 1966 due to a gas leak and is a famous modern painter.

When I was young, my family was wealthy. In 1919, Chang Yu went to Paris through a work study program in France and became familiar with Xu Beihong and Lin Fengmian. However, Chang Yu's artistic views were different from theirs. He did not attend an art academy for further studies and often watched "Dream of the Red Chamber" or played the violin while painting in a caf é. Chang Yu persisted in his own way in art, pursuing spiritual freedom. He experienced ups and downs and remained unknown and unappreciated throughout his life; Nowadays, the West recognizes him as a world-class painter, known as the "Chinese style Modigliani"
