Here is an antique foot stool Mike gave me to list!

It is one of several antique items he bought on a work trip to South Dakota in the mid '90s.  It came from an antique store in Mitchell SD.

Mike collected high-end and perfect shape antiques during his travels!!

This stool is made with mortised and wedged  joints, inside in square holes.  Mike thinks it is not some late-year artisan-made craft work, but probably made over a hundred years ago and used in actual life, maybe even hauled west in a Conestoga wagon during the migrations in the late 1800s!!

It is a gnarly-looking, close-grained wood, like hickory or Osage wood, or possibly locust.  Common wood for fence-posts and barns way back then!

It is highly crafted, solid as a rock, the joints have no spaces or errors in them, so whoever made it knew their wood-working!!

Just a beautiful stool with the wear of ages on it!!   You'd like it in your collection for sure!!
