Up for sale, a 1982 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-85 in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. Produced in the first few months of Fender Japan instrument production, this "Japanese Vintage" (JV) series guitar has a very low JV00-prefix serial number. An uncommon higher-tiered model, this Stratocaster boasts the same gray bobbin pickups and steel vibrato block used on the Fender USA Fullerton factory reissues from the same year.

Extremely accurate to vintage spec and sold only within Japan, tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard. The gray bobbin USA-made Fullerton-era pickups deliver an array of vital tonalities; the bridge pickup has ample sparkle and clear note attack, with classic Strat quack at the “in-between” positions on the 3-way pickup selector switch, and the neck pickup is girthy and full, with a bell-like quality and a gutsy cut. This JV-era Stratocaster weighs 7lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The gloss Sunburst finish has a burst gradient very faithful to early '60s Fender examples, and this thin gloss finish is purportedly nitro lacquer according to the Fender factory literature for this model tier. Signs of careful use include light buckle wear on the back and some minor dings on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back and body perimeter. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss, with just a couple shallow nicks along the bass-side shoulder that don't distract the palm while fretting.

The original black tolex hardshell case is included, along with the hangtags. The case has some stickers affixed to the lid and smells slightly of smoke.
