An interesting complete entitlement WW2 Medal Group to Able Seaman Leslie Frederick Lowe of the Merchant Navy possibly for Operational service afloat for 6 months though not long enough to qualify for the Atlantic Star.

Medals are correct originals:

WW2 1939-45 Star unnamed as issued

WW2 War Medal 1939-45 unnamed as issued

Box of issue named to Mr Leslie F. Lowe, 23 Audley Drive, Warlingham, Surrey, CR3 9AH.

Return address to the Registrar of General Shipping and Seamen, Cardiff.

Leslie Frederick Lowe was born on the 05/06/1926 and at the time of the 1939 Register was living at 21, Jemmett Road, Ashford in Kent as a student at school. Eager to serve his country during the Second World War, he enlisted to join the Merchant Navy, being given Merchant Seaman Number R. 292958.

Sadly there is no award slip present with the group, but his entitlement has been confirmed to have been the only 1939-45 Star and the 1939-45 War Medal.

After the War he joined the Territorial Army as a Gunner with 570 (Surrey) Light Anti-Aircraft/Searchlight Regiment, Royal Artillery and served with them atleast through to 1949. He was issued the Army number 1835792.

He would have shared the same entitlement as Dunkirk prisoners of War. A nice group and not often seen complete entitlement combination.
