For sale my lovely Yamaha DT250A, according to the Yamaha owners club, this bike was manufactured in September 1973, making it a very early example of this model.

Obviously due to the bikes age, it is registered as a historic vehicle, meaning it no longer has to be taxed or have an mot, this means it has very low running costs when coupled with classic bike insurance.

I have owned this bike since October 2021, and I’m the first registered Uk keeper, the bike was previously from the states, where most of these now originate from.

During my ownership I’ve gradually improved the bike, making it good enough to turn up at any bike meet and turn heads, or enter into bike shows and possibly win prizes.

The frame and swinging arm have been painted in 2k black paint, the engine was removed and thoroughly cleaned, the carburettor stripped and ultrasonically cleaned, new spark plugs, gearbox oil were fitted, and the bike was also upgraded to a Vape electronic ignition system with 12 volt electrics, which is a huge improvement over the standard points system they came with 50 years ago, a Twin air foam air filter was sourced and fitted.

New chain and sprockets (DID) have been fitted.

The paintwork was carried out professionally along with new decals, I also stripped the previous tank liner and relined it with an epoxy based sealant, meaning it is rust free.

The wheels were treated to new tyres and inner tubes, and also new wheel bearings. I have had the fork legs rechromed by Philpot engineering, the best in the country for renovation of fork stanchions (3 months wait!) new seals and oil were fitted, I also bought and fitted new rear shock absorbers.

I’ve just recently fitted the bike with new headrace bearings and new chrome handlebars.

Overall the bike looks very sweet, and as I say would get a lot of attention from enthusiasts anywhere, all the electrics work and the bike starts easily and the engine sounds great, with plenty of torque through the gears.

Classic 2 stroke prices are still on the up, and having this in your garage is guaranteed to bring you more joy than money doing nothing in the bank!

I’m happy to discuss the bike with genuinely interested people, but please if you’re a time waster go elsewhere.

The bike can be viewed in Burnham on crouch Essex, and if needed I can arrange a trusted courier to deliver nationwide from £150.

I have a bike running walk around video of the bike if you’re interested, and can WhatsApp that to serious buyers.
