Description: Presented is a rare Russian antiquarian book printed in Paris in 1932. It is the book by Meriel Buchanan (1886–1959). It has two volumes in all-leather bookbinding.
Meriel Buchanan was the daughter of the last British Ambassador to Imperial Russia, she wrote a number of articles and books about her experiences during that time. This book was published in London in 1932 and immediately translated into Russian and published in Paris by the "Illustrated Russia" émigré magazine. This is the first edition of the book in Russian, the second one was published in 1933 by the same publisher.
The book was published in 2 volumes - this edition has both volumes in one all-leather binding in beautiful green color with gold impressions.
This is a rare and very interesting book of historical importance, a lifetime and the first edition of a great work in great bookbinding.
The book is in a very good condition for the age. The leather shows some wear but no losses and no tears, the inside pages are in excellent condition with no losses, splits or notes. There are some Ex Libris marks on a few pages.
It is 8" by 5.5" by 1".
