First and Second Reports of the Royal Commissioners

A large and fascinating catalogue of exhibits, exhibitors and prizewinners at the 1851 Great Exhibition.
Full of superb illustrations throughout.
Each volume measures approx 25cm x 18cm x 7cm (10" x 7" x 3")

Volume 1:
Backstrip missing. The front and back covers are bowed, loose and well rubbed and worn.
Internally the colour folding map at the front has severe loss.
Contains numerous plates, including four folding.
The plate showing "Apparatus for a dioptric light-house" is loose.
Includes 75 pages of advertisements at the rear of the volume.

Volume 2:
Backstrip torn. The front and back covers are bowed, loose and well rubbed and worn.
Contains numerous plates including four in colour.
The plates showing a Banner of Silk (91) and Carved Sideboard/Dressing Case (16/17) are loose.

Volume 3:
Backstrip torn. The front and back covers are bowed, loose and well rubbed and worn.
Contains numerous plates and one double page plate.

Volume 4:
Backstrip torn. The front and back covers are bowed, loose and well rubbed and worn.
Contains numerous plates in the supplementary section and several folding plates in the Reports section.

All volumes have been rebound by a library with part of the original covers laid down on the front. All volumes have library stamps and stickers inside the front covers but otherwise no library markings within the volumes.

Although the covers are in poor condition the internal pages and plates are generally in very good condition with only very occasional markings, creases or age toning. A wonderfully visual insight into the very best of the arts and industry in 1851.

Pricing significantly reduced on account of the condition of the covers.
