This was purchased from an Antique shop in a small village in Northern France at least 25 to 30 years ago and it was dated to around the late 19th century (pre 1900 that is). I am pretty certain it is French and is late Victorian era. 

The stand has a Nautical theme, with fish inspired feet, seashell design drip tray and other nautical features, including seaweed and Neptune's trident.

It has just been cleaned and polished. Ready for immediate use.

It's old, it's cast iron and is very heavy.

At the end of the day it does exactly what it was designed for and is ornate, decorative and stylish too.
