Goyard antique cabin trunk in signature monogram canvas. Overall shows expected wear but is in good shape considering its age (roughly 1920s).

Original owner of the trunk was US diplomat Henry P. Fletcher (Born 1873). He served in the Spanish-American War as a private in Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Riders. Fletcher later became the first US Ambassador to Chile, was then Ambassador to Mexico during WW1, ambassador to Belgium from 1922-1924, and ambassador to Italy from 1924-1929 during which he was on close terms with Benito Mussolini. Fletcher later became chairman of the Republican Party from 1934-1936.

The trunk still has travel stickers from his travels as a diplomat as well as his initials on either end.
