Presented here is the perfect watch for the finest evening out or a day at the office. This Bulova ‘Senator’ is a delightful piece of watch history and Bulova quality from one of the finest watch houses. This timepiece is sure to attract attention whenever you wear it. DETAILS:

Case:            'Senator’ model. Delightful and highly noticeable the tonneau shaped case has interesting small curved stepped lugs mounting the band. Original and signed 'Bulova'. The 10kt gold plated bezel and stainless steel case back have been repolished and fitted with a new acrylic crystal. In general the case looks great with only modest wear/scratches present commensurate with the age of the watch.

 

Crown:         Original, signed ‘Bulova’ showing some wear.

 

Dial:             Complementing the lustre of the case, the dial has been professionally refinished a charcoal colour. The hour positions are marked with gilt numerals. The ‘Bulova’ name, minute chapter and sub-second dial are in gold tone.

 

Hands:         The hour, minute and sub-second hands are all original, gilt, ‘Modern’ style.

 

Movement:  BULOVA Swiss manual wind movement. This is a fine classic 8AE calibre with 17 jewels and is marked with ‘T’ and ‘+’ symbols for 1942 and 1943 respectively. The movement has been cleaned, oiled & adjusted, and is running well, keeping good time ready to wear. As with all vintage watches regular servicing is recommended.

 

Size:            Tonneau shaped, approx. 34.29mm long (including lugs) X 21.87mm wide (excluding crown). Approx. 28.34mm excluding the lugs.

 

Band:           A new 14mm black leather band and gold tone buckle has been fitted which complements the watch perfectly.

General comments:

This is a delightful example of a Bulova ‘Senator’ watch from 1942, which has been restored to appeal once again. The repolished case with shell-like lugs and eye-catching charcoal coloured dial make the watch highly attractive. The watch has a pleasing classic look and feel that simply cannot be found in newer watches.

• This is a vintage manual watch with a movement from 1942 and as such it will not have the accuracy of a contemporary quartz movement therefore perfect time accuracy cannot be expected. If you want a watch to simply put on and go – then perhaps this is not the best choice you could make – however, if you want a period timepiece that you can admire and enjoy on each occasion you wear it, then this is a great item.
