2002 Bourgeois Custom Slope D with a bearclaw sitka spruce top and flamed curly maple back and sides.

This is a visually stunning guitar from Dana Bourgeois and the sound of it more than matches it’s looks. It’s a custom build and has all the extra visual appointments going.

With a jaw dropping flamed curly maple back and sides and tonally balancing sitka spruce top with some wonderful bearclaw details, this slope shouldered dread offers all a player could ask for in a guitar. The maple offers the clarity and brightness for the big jangly strumming work, but has mellowed out wonderfully through age and the fully opened up bearclaw sitka brings extra warmth and punch to lead lines either flat or fingerpicked. This guitar really does sound stunning and has a played in vintage tone in spades. It also benefits from a rare use of a vintage squared off headstock look, normally only reserved for his square shouldered dreadnoughts built around this time. Personally we much prefer it to the snake head look normally used on the sloped models in this era.

It’s in very good condition for it’s 22 years, with only a few small indentations to the lacquer finish on the top, a couple of very small chips to the binding lacquer, a few marks to the back top of the headstock as shown in the photo and one small discolouration mark, (most likely from a guitar stand). It also comes with it’s official hardcase.
